Global Missions Core Values

  • A commitment to an "all-of-life" approach to global missions rooted in the theology that Jesus came to earth to reconcile (put into right relationship) all created things in heaven and on earth (Colossians 1:15-20).

A commitment to partnership that seeks to extend our global missions ministry beyond the life of individual short-term mission experiences. Key partnerships will be established, as far as possible, with local churches and parachurch ministries on the global mission field. These relationships, in the context of unity and love, will be defined in terms of agreed upon parameters.

A commitment to avoid "helping in ways that hurt" in our global missions efforts by establishing safegards to minimize paternalism, dependency, and disempowerment. Our goal is to do whatever we can to respect and empower our partners as people made and being redeemed in the image of God. A commitment to communication wherever possible, as early and as fully as possible, with all stakeholders in each global missions endeavour (i.e. church board/staff/congregation, short-term mission team leader/members, global missions partners, etc.)

A commitment to financial integrity with respect to reporting and compliance that is guided by transparency and accountability to all stakeholders (i.e. the CRA, church board/staff/congregation, ACEM, missions donors, our global missions partners, short-term mission team leaders and members, etc.).
